Water trickling at night

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My tank is in my living room and like it quiet (although I do like the sound of trickling water - not so much in this situation).

Having said that, I like to stick my ear next to the internal overflow to hear the trickle of the second drain...that's for the folks running Herbie, and, let's me know the flow is as I prefer it ;-). Not too much it's sucking in air, but a little trickle.

Oh man, that sound used to keep me up for HOURS when I was younger. I cant sleep if it's quiet, I like white noise from fans... but I hate any faltering or varying sound. Water trickling is about as disturbing to me while I try to sleep as someone snoring.

It never bothered me and actually I think it caused me to sleep better and longer

It was weird last night, for the first time in ages I had the bubbly/trickle noise from a sponge filter, and woke up to complete silence, before the sound became apparent. I must have completely screened it out during the night as I got used to it, I've read of things like that in sleep studies, interesting to experience.

Never had a tank in my room just currious does the trickling water sound make you wanna go to the bathroom.

Probably been asked before, but I'm gonna discuss it anyway; does anyone prefer the sounds of water bubbling or trickling in tanks at night as you're trying to sleep?
I have my 150 poly/loach/random African badass tank and my native darter/dace/madtom/scuplin tanks in my room. Both make a fair amount of noise due to the the water levels being slightly lower than normal for good breathing room/stream effect in the native tank, and I wouldn't have it any other way haha.
