Water turn over rate.

Higher turnover will make for more effective mechanical filtration. Whereas the the biological filtration actually benefits from a lower rate. Just have to find the right balance between the two. No matter how big a pump you buy it can only pump as high a rate as your overflow can handle. So before suggesting a pump GPH one should know the max GPH/LPH rate of your overflow.
 
Thanks for all the help guys. I had a couple of spare sponge filters so I have added them and it has already made a considerable difference.
Will look into wave makers when I have some more available funds. (all my funds of are currently going to squirtle for festae and EBJD's lol)
