Water vaporization?

What fish are in the tank? 85 seems a bit high for most fish. I think that it’s both the a/c and the heat of the water making it evaporate so quickly if you notice it the next day or two
I had a female red devil it's tricky getting my water temp to stay between 73-79 my room gets hot I'm talking about you can feel the heat on the window glass it's annoying. Even my tank gets hot. But that's what I walked into a hot room, water level dropping, and 85 degree tank. I'm thinking of moving the tank next against a wall. So I can prevent this in the winter cause that's when my room is icy cold.

Get some "blackout" curtains. They keep my bedroom 10/15 degrees cooler in a non ac apt than the rest of the place. And it's a south facing window to boot.

You could try putting ice in the tank. I’ve heard of people doing that with axolotl and other cold water animals. I’d you have a heater in the tank then take it out until winter like most people do. I don’t do that because my room gets freezing cold at night so I constantly have my heater on and my water’s usually at 76-82°
