Looking at this pic (not too clear taken on my phone), can you see if my water looks clear, sometimes it looks like it has a yellowish tinge but this could be the ****ty t5 lighting unit i am using ( i have no hood at the mo)

that is a gourami in the background lol, he has gone to my friend but he was having some troubles with his tank, he is going back at the weekend along with my the bala sharks

Could be the lighting but hard to tell. Try and get better pics.
 
Doesn't look that bad, but the first pic's water looked cloudy; may just be the camera you are using. don't see any yellow tinge in the pic.
 
prolly cell cam. they have a tendancy to look cloudy when taking pictures through glass.
 
water parameter may not be good enough for the filtration and beneficial bacteria to act on the waters to clear nitrates and ammonia fast enough, thereby results in unclear water, need to cycle longer
