Probations are for members that amassed enough infractons to warrant banning or have a single infraction that warrants banning yet, the member is frequently an active contributor to the site and its members. We also had an instance where a member stayed logged on through a shared PC and someone reportedly used their logon to porn spam this site. Those cases are placed on probation and any repeat offenses committed during the probationary period become automatic perm-bans. After a predetermined time, a probationary member with no further offenses is returned to full member status.
