I have a pair of rays growing out in a 125. Looking to add some more flow. Any rule of
thumb in sizing a wavemaker/power head?
I'm not super versed in rays, or the newest wave makers. I know they live in rivers and can probably deal with some flow. I've used vortechs and korillia in the past both are great. I do know rays can be "trouble makers" when it comes to stuff in a tank though so better to let some more ray savay people chime in their opinions.
its kind of a hard setup to describe. its two 125s tied in together on small k1 sump. Each 125 has 3 large sponges. These two tanks and the three 75/90 under it are powered by a large jehmco air pump. The two 125 can handle a lot of bio load no problem. There is a also a drip that keeps nitrates low. The other 125 has a large black devil catfishWhat do you currently have for water movement?
The sump honestly provides a very soft flowYou could add some power heads for sure. What flow are you getting from the sump? The sponge filters won't provide much for water movement in a 125.
