WC Bahia?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I like this batch & it's nice to hear some of the positive feedback about what others see as "good signs" of quality cichla. It makes me want to go back & get the last one!

Update pic after 10 days or so... The bigger one has started taking krill, the smaller still only eats bloodworms. What a difference in size just from that! Anyway, I think they look a little healthier than the last pics up here, so I figured I'd update:

Oh yeah. I went to Shark Aquarium last weekend & was gonna buy the last one of these, but it was gone. I assume one of you guys got it or it passed away there. Unless someone else got it! DAMNIT!

If I'm not mistaking there are some suppliers that are listing "wc" Bahias now. We all know there is a risk when we hear the word "Bahia"
Have anyone ever seen an true wc Bahia that's around these days? Who know how they actually look like now with all the new introduction. Bahia have a pretty large area of river systems. Bahia isn't just one river system. The Bahia you got from sharks aquarium may be in fact caught from Bahia. Who knows for sure now?
I have a guy who is supping "wc" Bahia and itpanga kelberis. Can anyone say they're 100% not wc other than the person or people who obtained the first first?
Now I'm not saying these may not be cb but they look nothing like cb even the higher grades of cb. I haven't seen any high grade of cb Bahias lately since they're so far down the line from the original ones. Most of them are deformed and ugly with messed up tails as a major give away being cb.

Just wait and see how your Bahias turn out. They may be future stunners. They look good to me already and the headshape doesn't look very cb and body markings and the tails looks good to me. They may even be a lot better looking than the kelberis that were here before. Who knows? May make everyone jealous of what you have.

Great point TJ & thanks for the feedback on them! Look on gangster's kelberi post & you will see my other batch I got from shark aquarium that are CB. They look very nice to me for CB 8-10". What makes growing these out is seeing how they change throughout their maturity. I do find myself looking at these 3 more than any others at the moment always looking closely trying to learn from what I see so I know them inside & out if they turn out as adults to be stunners! By the way, the 8" CB Kelberi were $110 each at shark aquarium & these were $150 for 3" or so.

OK… Update time on these guys. I really like how they are looking at this point! They were getting whooped up by my 2 Pinima so they are now the proud bosses in their new 180 gallon home. Here they are after a few months to grow. Please give some input on these guys. I see a lot of Bahia posted on here bought from all over the place, & I don't think many if any look like these 2!

Thanks. I just hooked up a 40W Aqua U-V sterilizer. I really like the 40W because it has so much more contact area than the 25W & 47W... & it is incredible how quickly the water got crystal clear in this tank!
