Hi, I bought an 8" WC Kelberi last Saturday and he has still not eaten!
Before I took him I watched him feed and out of the 10 or so Bass in the tank he was the first to eat and also the largest.
I originally put him in my main tank but the bigger Bahia attacked him so ive moved him on Wednesday to a 100l tank
with some feeder fish (Platys, Tetra and a Gourami).
The water parameters are PH 6.8, Amonia 0, Nirite, 0, Nitrate 20-40, Temp 28oC.
The shop were feeding him on worms and whitebait. Ive offered both but he just sulks!

Any ideas?

Cheers Jay

This will happen with wild cichla sometimes... Try live feeders on the small size, this finesse tactic usually worked for me

try and turn off the light and see if he eats then.

The lights dont come on till 3 in the afternoon. Ive treid putting whitebait in but no luck. He is more active with the lights on in the evening.

I have platys, small tetra and larger Gouramis in the tank. He has been in the shop a few months and was eating frozen fish.

I hope so its a chunky fish so im not too worried just yet.

They can go two weeks without food so I wouldn't worry.. When he starts eat you can just fatten him back up to where he needs to be.

What's your water parameters and water temperature like?
