That's a little extreme.....
Obviously they weren't otherwise they wouldn't have been purchased..... last time I checked a tattered tail didn't cause a fish to die but slight cosmetics.

You are absolutely right, it's a little extreme but its just an opinion of mine. Let me reiterate that I am not a fish expert in any way.

The way I see it, the fish looked extremely healthy although the damage from the tail fin might tell a different story. Tail fins are usually torn and not "chewed" up and missing chunks and pieces like what the photo shows. They also look a little bit stunted.

Did you guys notice that the pinima at such a small size have an extreme case of gill curl?

All my observations can be wrong though.
