Do you find that the Champsochromis Spilorhynchus are not as vivid blue as the Caeruleus? I have 3 that I have raised from 3" or so and my Dom male has more subbtle coloring than most of the Caeruleus but the tear spot is not real vivid on any of them and comes and goes.... I guess I am very lucky as it seems that I have 2 males and one female and they tend to do ok in their 125 gallon tank.... I just went and looked at my male and you can see real faint vertical bars on his side.Wimmels;3073447; said:Well the ones on the photo you posted have some clear teardrops where you won't see them as well as the Caeruleus. The one at the back also sports a lot of striping like my Spilorhynchus do. No Caeruleus fry I raised up till now had that striping.
