WC vs CB Delhezi

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How to tell the difference is not by coloration, also not by patterns. I have seen wild caught with almost have ] royal stripes patterns but never seen one with alsmost no patern or have spotted pattern which is common in captive breed. There is also the max possible size and head shape. Most captive breed delhezi have slights popping eyes and also if you look at the snout starting from the eyes to the tip of it's lip, it a bit shorter compare to wild caught. Wild caught can grow bigger also they have pointer snout but this does not always apply. It's hard to tell in juveniles btw.

It's best to get bichirs from a reputable dealer if you want to know if it's a wild caught or not. That's the only way to tell 100%. Guessing from LFS and even if the dealer say it's a wild caught, it's not 100%.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I think I got it now. I like the greener color and spots that most cb have, but also like the stripe pattern of the wc. If I can find a wc with a nice dark color, and nice stripes that would be great, or vice-versa.

CB and WC have both. They can have dark color or with plenty of green on them.

The difference between CB and WC tends to be the stripe pattern. I own both, and I like both. They are equally active fish to own.

My WC one just looks more appealing to others initially.

If I was going for more delhezi, I'd get some WC ones if they were available. For a little more money you get a better looking fish in most cases.

That, and I own palmas pollis and senegals so the more pronounced markings add some color to the tank in a way.

I dont know ordered a CB Del and had maybe two stripes-and I was told by someone on here that WC have much better markings.

There are CB del out there that looks exactly like WC. Patterns doesn't make a difference when telling them apart.

The only time i think a CB looks better than WC is when it has solid black spots threwout the whole body giving it an sweet Leopard look vs Tiger.

I ended up buying 2 CB because it's the same price as getting 1 WC shipped...But now i think i would trade both for 1 WC and throw in a senegal!
