We Became Foster Parents Today...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Awesome! I had a chanck to save a gull with a broken wing a while back...this was while working at a shop with a bunch of guys who thought it should be tortured and killed. That kind of mentality really tweaks my melon...I'd sooner set a deserving human on fire than a helpless animal...

It is great, I mean AWESOME, that there are people with their heads on straight.

Nice in you taking care of it...Just make sure your not breaking your states laws by having it and caring for it as in some states its against the law without a permit by enviromental police. The more that deer knows to fear people the better off it will be come hunting season since deer that are use to human contact become unafraid of people and will look to them for food and that isnt good since deer will travel miles and probably walk right out of this safe place you plan on letting it go when its big enough. GL

We're not worried about about breaking any laws. The state asked us to foster the little fawn. We're on a list to foster young wild animals needing extra handling. We have it during its every-2-hour feeding period. Once weaned onto solid food, he goes back to a state shelter where he'll be conditioned for release back to the wild.
Males that have been fostered by humans, are not known to return to wanting human contact. Females have been known to return to seek human contact once they have their own young. But, only to the homes that fostered them.
This buck will be released about 100 miles north of here to remove any familiarity he'll have with this area. That will cut down the chances even further that he'll seek out human contact.

Oh cool.....Guess you dont have to worry about the law then. Its always good to have them on your side. I dont know how if its whitetail deer only but theres a male european fallow deer that got away from the owner in the state i live in and i noticed him one afternoon in this field and thought to myself damn thats a weird deer....after some eyeballing it was no whitetail. You should see this deer now...He looks like a little elk and he comes running right up to the car if you pull over onto the side of the road. I'll try to get some pics next time im by his stumping grounds.
