WE HAVE EGGS!

i got these firemouths a few weeks ago. first i had them in my 40 with my green terrors i know they were a pair cuz the male wouldnt mind the female fallowing him and hiding in his little rock but they werent really showing their nice colors dew to white/coffee gravel so i put them in my 29 with black sand to bring out their color . then i noticed when i changed the water they would show each other affection so i started changing the water regularly in hopes of them spawning . for the past week ive been seeing her breeding tube get larger and this morning i said to my wife they are going to lay eggs soon MAN WAS I IN FOR A SURPRISE! around 9:00pm i was eating dinner and came up to my room walked past the tank and what did i see eggs! im so happy i've been trying to get a pair of firemouths for a while now.

Well done. Firemouths are fun fish and you will enjoy watching them as parents.

i've always liked firemouths since i first started in the hobby , they are cool fish for sure but i never really kept any till now . i bought a bunch of babies a while back but they were getting killed cause of my pair of convicts in heat and i didnt like the way they looked bleached out so i gave em to a friend . i just recently decided to give em another try . im deffinitly going to keep these guys now hopefully i get more babies in the future .

P.S. i like the ones you have in your pics , i hope mines grow to look like they do.

Thanks! They are one of my favorite cichlids. I took that pic in my avatar right before my pair laid about 500 eggs.

oh cool . i dont think mine laid that many this batch maybe about a hundred or so , mine are still young they are both 3" , im hoping they have more in their batches as they get older
