  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Again, props man!! Getting them is the easy part. Now you got to grow them up. . . . I hope you have them in their own tank...lol. Suck to get them beat up by some common cichlid.

Congrats on the pickup! Lil fella looks nice. What type of pellet is he taking? What diets do you have in mind?

Yes, they are definitely going to be in their own tank. I have my fingers crossed at all times regarding their survival. I am doing about a 12% daily water change, as the only concrete causes of bloat I have heard involve poor water quality.

As per KRSwop1's recommendation, I am feeding Hikari cichlid staple and NLS. I also might try some spirulina, as I have heard that works well with haitiensis, another fish that bloats very easily.

Fingers crossed you get it (or them?) past the 4" stage. You're going to keep them in different tanks I hope?

I will have them together in a divided tank. If that does not work out for some reason, I have a second, but smaller, tank on standby for one of them.

more pics!!! if u get them breeding! promise to send about 50 over to the uk, there are loads of us here who will be willing to pay and some very good fih keeepers over here who im confident if anyone can get them breeding they will be able to.

They don't do well and bloat badly when they're under 4". Larger than that they're pretty tough to kill, but they're hard to breed because they're so aggressive, males usually end up just killing the female.

They're not rare in the wild, just the hobby.
