I caught some guppy looking moisqueto fish once (the ones that hang near the surface around logs and plants) when i went fishing, and came home one day after having them with my female beta for about a week, and they aparently killed her! They seemed to have little razor teeth because she was half eaten! It was quite the shock.

I think its an incredibly stupid idea. Convicts multiply MUCH faster than guppies, have larger broods, and they kick ass! Yet, why arent they monsters, eh? Most fish produce fry faster than guppies anyway.
