I think I have the wimpiest piranhas ever!
Some of you may have read that I put a pearl gourami in my rbp tank (it was bullying everything in its tank) anyway it bosses my p's around....and I just put a feeder danio in the tank and the gourami was the first thing to go after it...my p's will go check the danio out the yell RUN AWAY and hide when it moves haha...talk about the gourami being a sheep in wolfs clothing...or maybe that should be said about my p's :P

probably your p's, that gourami would be gone like seconds if it was in my caribe tank

Its because they are still little, give them some time and you will have little demons.

Just babies. One thing you will notice about RBs.....When they chase a fish, and that fish turns around the Ps will immediately stop the assault. Cichlids are very very good at this. Many fish seem to have this in their instinct which in turn is somewhat of a natural defense. (sounds good anyway).... This is how many fish can survive same area. I can promise you this is a short lived situation. The older they get the more bold they will get. As is stated on someone's signature somewhere. They live in one of if not the most dangerous water in the world filled with aquatic horrors beyond imagination...!!! So it is ok for them to be a little bit wimpy when they are babies.

They are skittish fish, give em' time and they'll come around.

you have them in a 30 gallon correct? get them a bigger tank and they wont be as wimpy. I had a solo piraya that was so scared of me in a 50 by it self. I put it in a 75 by itself and it manned up quite a bit. Now its with a shoal of piraya and it runs the pack!

ok well i guess i can live with wimpy babies but they better buck up! haha

they will, but if that's what you want in your piranha then you might have not get them use to chasing some small fish. I read somewhere that someone's p's are so used to eating pellets when he throw in a feeder his p's didn't know what to do. I've never had my p's on pellets so have no idea if that's true or not.

I had my piraya solo in a 55g before, it's was a wimp now I have it in 180g with my shoal of caribes, it is still a wimp...maybe I just have a wimpy piraya or may be it's still trying to adjust being the only piraya in a shoal of caribes. I'm sure it'll behave differently if I have more than just one piraya....but I got no money...
