It probably won't eat a 10" fish but it COULD. It all depends on the body shape and how hungry it is and how big of a fight the other fish puts up and how fast it is. It could maybe eat like a 10" bichir or arowana but not like a 10" oscar or jag.
or a 10" comet goldfish. I know what you mean by a longer body shape, not something more shaped like a disc. Like, it definately wouldnt eat a 10" discus. How long until it could eat maybe a 3-4 inch convict??
I would say about 6 or 8". It is gunna be your call. Your fish may not even be into live fish... you never know. But your fish also might not be into eating big fish. There is always the odd fish that has pet peeves like that. I know my bowfin goes nuts and stuffs it's face with every food it can find except live fish. Kinda wierd but my bass takes care of the live fish.
Yea, makes sense. Every fish has its own personality. I sure hope that it is in to big fish, that would be cool. Anything else you can tell me about Limas??
Theres no way it could eat a 10 inch fish!! It could eat a 3-4 inch convict but it depends on the fish. I keep mine, which are 12-13 inch with 5-6 inch f'water barracudas and theres never been any probs at all.
Just because your fish doesn't eat your fish doesn't mean he can't. Shovelnose have HUGE mouths. Like I said your fish probably isn't into eating any fish the size of him. I know my bowfin could eat a fisht that is about 2/3 the size of him but he won't. He doesn't like to eat big things. Won't even eat a guppy and he is about 5". But he loves to stuff his face with bloodworms and shrimp. Also you need to remember that a 14" fish is alot bigger than a ten inch fish. It may not sound like it but when you compare there is quite a difference, 4" is alot. You would need to take out a ruler to see it though. And another thing is that the pikes that are in with your SN might be too fast for him to catch. They stick around the top too so they probably don't even come in contact. I know if you search around you will find stories of them eating fish that are close to their size.
