Well, the funniest things happen when you have kids....
Today, i went to pick up my son from the day care, and lo and behold!..all of the kids had gotten a weather loach!!

To tell you the truth, i was not exactly amused..i mean i understand the idea behind it, but i doubt that many parents today had the fainest idea what to do with the loach.
So, tomorrow i will talk with the day care center and explain, that you can't just give a kid a fish to take home, without some form of prior information.

Am i over reacting here??..i don't think so, after all, fish are animals too and deserve the best treatment we can give them.

Anyway, here i was with a loach and what to do with it..my first thought was to feed it to my snakeheads, but that didn't sit well with my son, so i had to express clean a 10 gallon spare tank, put substrate and plants in and seed the new filter....not really the ideal solution.

So, now i am a proud owner of 5 snakeheads......and a weather loach!:grinno:

Yeah so many of those are gonna be killed by kids that do not know what they are doing. But good luck with yours. You are so lucky to be aloud to keep snakeheads.

yup you gotta go and speak to the day care people
but it is a nice feeder though
i used to feed them to my TSNs and poly when they were small and new

This is what ya do, tell the kid that the loach jumped out of the tank as theyre famous for doing. But you really give it to your snakeheads as an afternoon snack! No, that would probly break your kid's heart

Cute a WEather Loach! Keep it Keep it! You can bargain with ur kids to be good, or else u wont keep it =D They are fun to watch special when they feel a storm is coming, i think thats true, not sure. =^___^=

Tell him to be good or I'll feed your loach to my snakehead!

I have three boys, and if any of their teachers ever sent home a fish with out any prior notice, I'd have them fired. That is ridiculous. How many animals are going to be subject to "fishy? fishy? fishy wake up! why are you sleeping?" as the shake the hell out of the bag. How many are going to die due to the parents being complete morons and not treating water or adding a filter? How many of those fish are going to be put in a bowl? I own these fish and they are truly interesting creatures, especially when kept in a group. Your dojo was lucky, unfortunately, many others are going to die because this teacher is a posterial oraphus (prolly spelled that wrong).

My rant is over. But I would talk to the teacher if I was in your position, and if I don't get anywhere with that, to the principal. If that doesn't work, to the school board. That's animal cruelty, not to mention puting parents on the spot. It would be like sending home a puppy or a kitten.:screwy::screwy::grinno:

reminds me of the movie "finding nemo" wen the girl shakes the life outta the fish at the dentist's office :D

@topic....relax...i think ur just excited as u are a responsible fish keeper and others dont seem to be....IMO they wont be much affected by ur speech...and after all its a weather loach...what could be the worst condition to keep a weather loach in than ur first idea to feed it to ur snakeheads

id rather they send home loaches then those fund raising things all the time. wrapping paper for 20.00 /:irked:5 jelly beans for 10.00 yeah right! :irked:
 gimme the loach!

I love weather loaches ,i had 1 he was alway's active and had character.I can't believe they are just given away like that without any info ,can't they stick to sweet's?
