Web Monitoring for tanks?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
YSI has some stuff that does a great job of automated monitering.
Also, Sens-a-phone products will do the same, then call you with alerts if something goes out of the preset range. Expect to pay for products like that, though.
I've used both of these. I love YSI meters and what not, but the Sens-A-Phone works great for watching your stuff when you can't.

I am looking to make a PC automated system also. Ive found a few commercial options, but would prefer a DIY solution. I think x10 could be a simple cost effective solution. I think you can write your own scripts with x10.

Does anyone know of x10 software or hardware that can monitor resivor tempature or ph/tds? What about float switches? or an input for float switch?

x10 is not nearly as capable as the system that i - i am not sure how complex of a system you are interested in or how much you want to spend - goto my website www.rgbse.com go to the tridium demo- it will show you the capabilities on a bui;dig - the system i am talking about is truly web based with email and text capabilities -if yor heater fails you will get an email or text you can also hook up cameras- if interested call me we can work on this together- this is what my company does for buildings - but i think it is a huge opp for tanks - i have some really good friend who are from the beautiful state of mntana

Is there such a thing?- can it be integrated in home automation?
If not is anyone interested in it?
I have the knowledge on the IT/tech side - not on fish side?
I once had a heater fail-on fried over $300.00 of young
Tanganyikans. If I would have gotten an e-mail I might have saved them?
Thanks for any info!

Two other solutions to this are:
1) Use two (or more) lower wattage heaters that add up to what you need for heat! Example: You are using a 300 watt heater now. Instead use 2 150 watt heaters or even 3 100 watt heaters. If one fails it is not enough to fry a tank!

2) they make separate heater thermostats that the heater plugs into and turns the heater off when too hot!
