This wooden rollercoster isn't scary in itself however the fact that it takes you off a hilltop is. The over drop is pretty far if you watch in the background you can see a river down there( 3 rivers over Pittsburgh, PA ). It's a 1/2- 1 mile drop. I myself have gone on it. The thought of it derailing while it on the side of the mountain is the scariest/best part.

Ive ridden that plenty of times, living in pittsburgh :). Though it's not as good as the steel plantom, the one you see overlapping it with the green track that actually goes about halfway down the slope.

That looks amazing! Where is it located?

"Carowinds is a 398-acre (161 ha) amusement park, located adjacent to Interstate 77 on the border between North and South Carolina, in Charlotte and Fort Mill, respectively. The park opened on March 31, 1973, at a cost of $70 million."

Cut to the 14:00 minute mark on this video to see more about the ride.

Here's their website for more info: https://www.carowinds.com/

I'm not sure if I rode that one. I went back in the 80's. My memory is not that great.

what's so special about this one? other than the high first drop it doesn't look like anything special

the mummy ride at universal studios Hollywood got me feeling sick. the whole ride is indoors and it's pitch black. I was cool until it stopped and went backwards. but I got to take pictures with an Egyptian hottie walking around in costume and on stilts outside the ride

Universal sucks now. All the rides are the same fake simulators. Even the Munster house is painted and landscaped, you wouldn't even recognize it. It's good for a nice walk with my girl though.

I went there for the first time a couple of years ago and I've been in socal for a little over 30 years

I actually would prefer the simulators over traditional roller coasters now that I been on the simpsons and transformer rides. I loved them. even the king kong tour ride is simulated and was freaking awesome. don't know if you've been there recently but I know they used to have a giant mechanical king kong attack the tour ride and now it's all 3d simulation. you get the king kong fighting the trex in the jungle all around you and it's pretty damn cool

I've had an annual pass the past few years. All of the simulators are alright the first time or two. Now they just make me nauseous, plus I hate wearing 3D glasses over my Rxs. Not till I revisited Disneyland, did I realize I miss real rollercoasters.

The thunderbolt will up your pucker factor 500%. The cars leave the tracks by a few mm at one hill, and you can tell.
