Not sure of that since I know that CLR Contains some pretty serious acids... Could be worth looking into if all else fails.

CLR is a goo as a last resort. What sucks is getting it out.

1. Use CLR
2. Rinse tank obsessively
3. Clean with Vinegar
4. Rinse tank obsessively

Some throw dish soap in there too.

You could always have a tank cleaning/bbq qhile yr cooking ya freinds could do the cleaning

I'm sure a couple of hours with a Razor blade and some vinegar will work wonders on these tanks... might need more beer though LOL

I have never heard that beer works on Ca, is it good at it?

But yeah, vinegar should do it and nice pick up.

How about muraric acid. It is strong stuff. I use it for my acid washes on pools. Real cheap at home depot. Just be carefule. Dilute in a spray bottle and you will be done in no time.

I actually have some... never really thought of using it in a Tank before... Anyone having any ideas on this.. Problems?

the muriatic acid will work, no doubt, but how strong is the smell, and can it damage the silicone?
i just cleaned a few tanks and protein skimmers from both fresh and saltwater tanks and i'm on a well so i had some serious mineral deposits on the freshwater tanks.
i used vinegar and bleach, but not a mixture! i found both allowed me to easily wipe all deposits away easily!

i used clr on a tank of mine, i want that impressed, it didn't really work as well as i thought it would, plus i rinsed so much post it wasn't worth it
