I noticed this at the lfs but wasnt concerned just figured it was built up gunk or something.

Its looks like some white poweder/gunk/build up but was wondering if i should be concerned incase it was something else. The pits on the top of the head are clean its mostly on the sides of the head/face

You guys ever see this before ? Expand the image to get a better view.

He also came with some hitch hikers (detritus worms) not a big deal but probably wont feed for a while until they die off.

Have seen something like this a while ago. It but up close it has an almost bored appearance.

There are Macrogyrodactylus polypteri that appears as fine hair. I remember a while ago that someone had that can bore thru. It was never ID'd but treated with paragaurd. Went away.

Just a thought.

No idea, but if it's WC you should definitely be tossing some parasite meds in that water, you never know what kind of creepy crawlies are shawshanking their way through it's system

kno4te kno4te ann actually did a detailed writeup in the stickies. But it doesnt seem to resemble what im seeing. Gonna have to get a closer look.

clm08k clm08k take a look at the last pic in post #5 of the attached thread maybe resembles what your dealing with (ornate)

K krichardson not sure if this applies to you but i know you recently got fish from them and im not sure if the basement filtration system is tied into the upstairs but maybe take a look

Wondering if what i assume were ditritus worms are actually these things.

Is Macrogyrodactylus polypteri commonly known as bichir worms ? I remember reading about them when i first got into polys

Yea...not saying it is but it was came to my mind. Lol.

Keep qt for a while.

Firstly, the palmas palmas did a number on the pectoral and tail. Geezus....

As for the bichir worms. Parasite guard worked for me. Had a few on my faranah dabola and went away in a day or so.

I wouldn't be too alarmed with sensory canals. It seems fine. Believe they're just a lot more noticeable on light colored poly. Observe this on your light and dark colored congi.
