What do you use to weigh down your pvc pipe? I recently bought a 3' 3 or 4" wide pipe for my tire track, I wasn't even thinking that it would float till I put it in (dur). I shoved some sand and pebbles their and put on of the vases I have in the tank leaning on it, but he's a mover of decor. Wondering if anyone had suggestions.

I've never had PVC float. Mine has always sunk. What kind of PVC is it?

You need to put an elbow joint thing on each end. They are heavier and sink, they should hold it down.

Did you get the black pipe intended for drainage (non-potable water)?

Normal (white) PVC should sink.

its white pvc pipe, I actually asked for black pvc pipe because I thought it would be less of an eyesore and the guy at home depot gave me a wierd look and asked what did I care what color my pipes were going to be.

I did not know that there were different types, I will have to go back and ask. Hopefully I can find a store worker that will actually help me, if anyone has been to the Bloomfield, NJ Home Depot they should know what I'm talking about.

if you got 3"-4" pipe from HD and its white you got drainage pipe which will float..
your best bet will be to ziptie it (or fishingline) to a piece of slate (tile works)..

ive yet to see pvc larger than 2" at any HD..

it's at least 3", which I need for my tire track so he has some room. Thanks for all the ideas everyone, every time I've seen the pvc pipe on other people's tanks it looked like it was solid and lay on the bottom with out needing to be weighed down, so felt like a dunce when I put it in and it floated. If I'm going to stick with the floating pipe, I might go for the black (easier on the eye in my opinion) just need to find it.

Thanks again
