I had a breeding pair of green terrors. They spanwened acouple days ago and i removed the egs and put them in another tank and this morning i went down and the male killed the female:nilly::cry: is this normal?

lol. Male doesn't always kill the female but alot of pp have the male kill the female. I always left the eggs and m+f in the tank and had luck. You just have to keep an eye on them.

Often the male will turn on the female when you remove all the eggs/fry. He blames her for the lost eggs and smaller females end up dead or badly injured

Always leave a few eggs for them to take care of or use a divider after removing them. After one or two weeks they will spawn again

theyve been fine before why this time?

Lol! Maybe he told her if you lose the eggs this time I'm gonna kill you, understand me literally kill you woman so you better not lose this set of eggs.
Seriously though it happens fish are unpredictable so you should always try prepare for every eventuality. That's why most do what's been suggested above either remove the female and eggs, leave some eggs in the tank with the parents or throw up a divider. They could be fine alot of times, but then that one time something sets them off.

I always leave the eggs with the parents until they hatch and then remove the fry once they become free swimming. Otherwise, issues like this can arrise.

I guess iv been lucky. I leave the eggs with the pair and also leave the free swimming fry in for a while. Right now fry are with the parents but will need to remove as they are getting nesting area ready. Just keep a close eye on them. Males are very protective at times.

Thats what i meant. I leave them with the parents for 5-6 weeks or so. Until they are well on their way.
