Do they look like this :-

Quite a bit like that but I couldn't see any antennae , they look like a teardrop almost. I don't think they are planaria, or worms of any sort. While doing the water change I saw a couple trying to escape up the glass sides. But there was no water. they was just a thin film of water on the glass and they were trying to walk up it. I don't think a worm could break the surface of the water could it?

I'm just happy their numbers have been greatly reduced. I'm going to do another water change in a couple of days.

I really think they are some form of Copepod

Yes, I think that too, they aren't harmful to my fish are they? I saw a feeder fish picking them of the walls when the infestation was really bad. It's made harder to identify cause when I type "planaria" or copepod" in a search engine I get these close up magnified views. I want to see how they look to the normal eye.

Well, thank goodness for that, most of them are dead now, I didn't feed for a little bit and I guess lots of them starved to death. Thanks everyone for all your help.
