It kind of looks like oil... I really don't like it. How would I get rid of it?

Its basically a bio-film from not enough surface agitation...

Two ways to remove it bascally... one is to point your return nozzle facing up towards the surface for better surface agitation which wont completely remove but will help...

The best method would be to use a surface skimmer... something like thr ehiem skim 350 is one of the smallest ones i’ve found and use on my planted tank...

Otherwise there are ones that are part of your intake take pipe which you can buy as well...

This is the ehiem skim 350 in the back corner of my tank for size reference...

How much is a protein skimmer? For a 150 that is.
Thanks

With freshwater you dont need anything hardcore like on a S/W tank...

For your tank i’d honestly recommend the ehiem skim 350, just place it in the center of your tank with the return filter pointing towards it and it should clean it up within an hour or two max...

I’ve done this in my 200G when bio-film got a bit crazy and took it out after it was done cleaning...

Then its a matter of rinse and repeat as necessary (both literally and figuratively) :)

I take an internal filter and turn it upside down, works like a charm.

I took the intake from my canaster filter and with some pvc elbows turn it upside down. I run son filter floss on the intake and change it every few days.

I get it on my 10g [plant only dirted tank right now, I intend to put shrimp or livebearers in it once it looks 'dutch']. I just scoop it out with a cup.

Ok, well what if I do take my Canister outputs and put them on end of tank pointing up and towards other end? Would a fish net work to just take it out?
I notice that where my air bubbles come up there is none.
