Nice smallie, I saw some large lmb and smb warehouse out in ontario, california called global aquatics. They had some channel cats as well.

So I was fishing yesterday and right under the dock there are tons and tons of guys that look just like him along with small perch... I put a small hook and piece of worm and was sooo tempted to bring a couple home... How illegal would that be to take home baby fish?

No sir, that's 100% SMB. A spotted bass has coloration generally the same as a LMB with the first and second dorsal fins still connected and a jaw that extends past the middle of the eye but not past the end of the eye.

LMB has separated dorsal fins and a jaw that passes the back of the eye.

SMB has a bronze or green coloration very different than either spots or LMB, joined dorsal fins and a 'teardrop shaped' eye, as opposed to a round eye in the other two species.
