Soon enough, my 55g growout tank will be empty and the tank I'm using it as growout for will be full. So, I'll need new fish. Weird thing is, I'm actually stumped about what fish to get.
Here's what I'm looking for:
Has to be something odd or unusual. Somewhat peaceful. Has to eat prepared food. Not interested in any normal-looking fish. Oh, and my bigger tank is full of polys, so please don't suggest that.
Any recommendations?

Leaf fish?

No live/stalkers, huh? I was going to suggest butis butis, but I guess that's out. How about those buffalo-head cichlids that act like gobies? Or mogurnda mogurnda?

you could also buy a datnoid thats already on pellets

pike

Or do the most amazing thing in the universe. Go to a pond, scoop a bunch of mud and water into a bucket, take it home and put it in your tank. Filter lightly, light strongly and watch the fun unfold! It's different everytime. You never know what you'll get hatching out of it.

Some kind of Spiny Eel? Ctenopoma kingsleyi? Green Sunfish? Redfin Pickerel? I also quite like Knifegill's idea.
