Weird fish in my tank.

There has been nothing new introduced in years, all original fish from when I started the tank with dry fake stuff from packages. Rocks fake, plants fake, and gravel from a bag. Things like to breed in this tank though, my convicts are like rabbits...lol. What is a synodontis?

im almost sure its a synodontis eupterus, its a type of catfish that grows to a nice large size. i have no idea how it got in ur tank if u dont.

it looks kinda like a synodontis eupterus but not quite. their dorsal should be much taller, and usually they are darker w/ more spots, and longer barbels. im going with synodontis nigrita

Neat syno, lucky score! The miracle fish!!! Yea, there are ways for fish to "mysteriously" appear in tanks. You can get all sorts of "illegals" if you have ever used feeders. A little one could have also been netted up by accident when you orginally made the purchases of your other fish, could've been so small you never noticed. And they are mostly active when you aren't, so it could have been there a while. Or, someone is playing a fast one on you. Anyway, nice fish.

ive seen them in local petstores as small as an 1" or so. they are easily missed in a bag with bigger fish, and they are usually in tanks with other three other fish.
