sounds like a hillstream loach, not a stingray

yep yep i agree hill stream loach. those are pretty cool little critters! :D

they are slightly less hardy then a regular pleco

treat em like you would any off brand pleco bristle nose rubber lip etc

ive had a couple that ive given away in the past they all did fine with normal tank maintenance

i walked down to a fish store about a mile from my house and i saw alot of exotic fish and i bought 2 red belly paranahs and then stumbled across some about a half inch big stingray looking things the store had written ufo on the tank and were 10 dollers i was gonna purchase them but i was so lost on how to care for them i had to reggretably leave them they were sticking to the sides of the glass lie plecos anyone have any ideas on wat they were:popcorn:
Which store was this?

Probably Hillstream Loaches. I have 2. Great fish. Not very active, but definately an awesome fish. They need cool water and good filtration.

hillstream loaches need alot alot alot alot of current
they get alot more active i made the mistake at first of not giving mine much current but after doing research i found out gave them alot alot of current now they are active

I agree with hillstream loaches. I'm actually getting some for my 20 long after my payara grows out a bit more and I can move it. They like colder, fast flowing water. Conveniently my 20 is already a high flow river setup. I would run a bunch of powerheads at one end and put rocks in as decorations. On that tank now I run 2 90 gph HOB's, a 175 gph internal filter, and a 170 gph powerhead.

is a hillstream loach the same thing as a stingray pleco? If so, then they are cute as hell and fun to watch. We had two stingray plecos but sadly had to get rid of them. They don't get very big, do better in groups, and really aren't to hard to take care of. But 10 dollars a pop is a little high. They were Walmarts fish of the month in dec. and went for 4 or 5 bucks.

yeah ill look into it the fish store was just called tropical fish it was an asian owned store not very big but a whole lot of strange fish ive never seen before
