weird looking Con

Yep that con has the genes to make Marble/calico cans if you breed it with another one that looked like that it would produce offspring that have alot of those black blotches That would still be a calico convict it just doesn't have alot of the blotches that calicos are know for

stuckinthemiddle - Those black blotches will probably go away once they get older . Its quite common to find them with the blotches at many LFS here. Get that con a female!

I think getting a female convict would be too much for the tank. They're in a 55 together with 2 sun catfish. When the sun catfish outgrow the tank, I will sell them or give them away. I did see a real marbled con in the store too but it was too small. I thought that my catfish would eat it.

no no no.. Not calico or marbled or anything just a regular convict. I'm sure it will be gone within a next 1/2". Don't feel bad, I've bought red devils and midas with cool patterns a few too many times that just peel into regular run of the mill fish. I have bred a ton of convicts and gave them to the fish store looking like that but they always end up looking normal. Theres a con I gave to the LFS that now has completley black fins, I feel like asking for it back since I gave it to them for free but I know hes just going to turn normal eventually anyways lol.
