That's a wierd story tho, I wonder if you had treated water with dechlor before for the same kind of fish without this to happen?. If so, there must be something wrong with your dechlor, otherwise this channa could be particulary sensible to the chemical substances in the dechlor.
When I make partiall WC to my piranha tank I never use dechlor, I just take tap water just as it comes out of the fawcett and my fish never had or have any problem at all, (piranha are hardy bastds).

from the OP acccount, seems logical to assume it's either one of the following a) bad bottle of declore , b) something new in tap water reacting with declore, c) user error, or d) sabotage relating to declore.
highly doubt the tap water could be so strong to heal the fish of parasites. If the birchir died for no reason, and micros flashing coincidentally went away at water change, appears to be a water problem rather than parasite problem (which is not to say they don't have a parasite issue). Mine had the anus strings just like yours and did not flash.

mine only started flashing after i treated. it seemed fine with the tapeworm inside it. after i put the meds into the tank - this medication is used for rays, and discus etc so very very gentle the micro that had the tapeworm started flashing and rubbing itself raw. i think something in the meds affected my bichir...not too sure..cos he was healthy before i treated too. and then after i treated, he stopped eating and stuff.
