I have a problem with my P-bass. They attack their food so violently that they are injuring themselves on the braces and glass tops of my tank. They are just minor scratches should I worry? What are possible remedies maybe lower water level, sinking food?

I am realy bothered because all this time to get them excited about eating dry floating food and now I wish they would calm down :irked:

Any ideas are appreciated

Mine kinda get like that. Do they only see you during feeding time? If you walk around them more, they'll start calming down during feeding time.

I am around the tank a lot and they act pretty behaved but when the food hits the water they go nuts. I think they just like the Hikari carnivore sticks too much I might just take them away

small scratches will heal up in good water conditions

you could try lowering the water level, or you could soak the dry food in water before feeding, that way it sinks..

They should heal up fine... I wouldn't worry to much about it. My big boys always have scars on their heads from locking jaws together! :)

You could try sinking food too.. But think of it this way.. At least they want to eat.

I wasn't worried until my big mono took a BIG gouge out of his head... even that has completely healed in about a week. I always keep my tank clean, warm, and with a little aquarium salt so I should probably just stop babying my fish LOL

I will look into the helmets though :headbang2

I should make a video soon it is crazy how much they WANT to eat
