Your incident was probably the most satisfying read I've come across in a long time.
Coincidentally this thread has made me happy that I will never come across such an problem in my own tanks.

one day my rope fish ( which was the biggest fish in my 10 gallon tank)went missin..for days i checkd everywhere in tank around the flor under the dresser but still no rope fish.. a week went by n i had lot my hope in finding him ....at tht time i needed to change my filter pads so i opened the top to my filter n there was tht s.o.b. sittin all curled p in my filter..lol still alive too ...lol

My Tiger O has always been a jumper he used to jump out of the tank at least once a month. then a couple months ago my brother was telling me that there was no way he could jump out after he "fixed" the lid.... later that night when he went to bed he hear a thud on the other side of the wall he thought i knocked on his door. lo and behold he jumped out still and his fixing was crap.

then last week i went out one night while my bro was out of town i had left the house at 7 o'clock that night and didn't get home until 3am i opened the door i couldn't see a thing all the lights were off, i stepped in the house and closed the door behind me. i looked down and noticed that there was a large spot on the floor that appeared darker thatn the rest. i thought the dog has taken a **** infront of the door, His was of saying thanks for leaving me here bymyself... i turn the light on and there's my O laying on the floor his body wasn's slimy, tacky, tackyness was almost gone, i picked him up and his whole body was stiff...i put my finger in his mouth then i saw his lower jaw move a mm i put him infront of the power head and poured my brand new bottle of stress coat all over him and he began to move around and then he sank to the bottom of the tank where he laid for two hours but within three days he was back to his greedy self again! i think this last jump was his last!!

when I was in grade 3 or 4, I had a tiger oscar, without a lid, and I had another tank in front of that to keep the feeder fish in.. The oscar used to jump from his tank to the feeder tank, get his fill then jump back into his tank. Did this for months. Well one day he misjumped and landed in the litter box... I thought the cat had taken a huge dump and didn't notice the oscar missing in his tank, anyways a few hours later my mom noticed and confirmed that that "huge dump" was in fact my oscar :( So I learned the importance of lids.

tRiP i think this is the definition of OWND:)

yes, I think you're right guppy. Or maybe this one is... January '06 I bought a 120 for a JD and another Oscar. Added a midas to the mix, Oscar was getting beat up by both fish so I go and buy it it's very own 75g tank, glass lid and everything. The lid had those plastic lips on the back so you can cut out notches for intakes/outputs etc, so that's what I did, no way the oscar could fit through... a week after putting him in, I notice oscar is missing, couldn't find him anywhere. I assumed the dog ate him and stopped looking after 2 days. 3 weeks later I notice there's a nasty smell coming from part of the basement, I look behind a bookshelf and there's the petrified body of my oscar with ants crawling in the eye sockets...

about two weeks ago i remembered i just getting ready to do a water change on one of my tanks and i noticed one of my snakeheads had gone missing! i searched all over for it but i can find it.ok nevermind maybe my dog ate it so i gave up looking for it and continued doing the water change .the water change lasted about 30mins to 1hr after i was done i sat down on my sofa and i was looking at my gar swimming around in the tank then i noticed something furry wiggling on the floor:screwy: LOL it is the snakehead covered in my dog's fur  i threw it back into the temp. tank it was in the next day he was back to normal again.
