turned a pontoon boat in to a submarine that was fairly exiting my uncle and dad were standing on the bow and yelled for the driver to hit it so he gunned the engine and in stead of rising to plane to dived lost about 200$ in fishing gear and a cooler full of beer witch the driver my have been drinking now that I think about it

I was fishing at Indian Pass, Florida last night. No lights or fire going. I hooked a fish and was sure it was a flathead catfish. As I was reeling it in, an alligator walked up on me.

Not really that weird but I got a good laugh out of it. Me and my friend wanted to do some night fishing so we got some takeout food and went to a dock. Thirty minutes in and he gets a bad case of the squirts. We wouldnt be able to make it back in time so he had to go right off the side

These were all good reading .... thanks for sharing.

Anyhow I've got 2 ... the first one was the first fish I ever caught, I was 8 yrs old fishing in the river with my future step-dad. I hooked a fish and started reeling, he kept insisting on taking the road from me but I wouldn't let go. 10-15 minutes later I finally landed a 10 lbs pike for my first fish ... what made it different was when we went to take the hook out .. inside its throat was my step-dad's favorite lure that he'd lost an hour earlier.

The second oddity was when we were in a boat fishing for walleye at a local lake, got a bite, hooked it, started reeling. When the fish broke the water ... it was a pike ... then he opened his mouth .... then I had a walleye .... scooped it in the net .... and out came a small perch still attached to my hook. Almost had 3 fish on 1 hook ... but the pike got away.

Both of those are awesome... The second almost unbelievable :P

Thanks ... wish I could've seen the pikes body ... In 26 years of fishing its never happened again.

I wouldn't expect it too either! That's nuts!

I would have to say on my trip to the Chesapeake I was night fishing alone (none of my family would have let me roam the bay alone on a kayak at night so I would sneak out when everyone went to sleep) and I had gotten into this grotto like area and was fishing for bait (my mission was a sand tiger ;) ) so I caught some croakers (or grunters idk I just call em what the guy who owned the house I stayed in called em) they make this kind of fart like sound out of water. Great for bait. As I was reeling one in I saw it in the glow stick light (had duct taped glow sticks all around my kayak so other boats would see me) I was just taking it out of the water and a friggin snake jumped in my kayak after it!!

Full grown Chesapeake bay water snake, about 4 to 5 feet long but not really thick, grabbed the fish from in between us and slinked over to the other side of the kayak and began eating it. Didn't want it to eat the hook so I yanked the fish away, and it came at me so I threw a hoodie over it, unhooked the fish, took the hoodie off, and was holding the fish in my hand over the side of the boat. So the snake jumped out after it (the fish btw was messed up because of the snake biting it and it being out of water) so the snake snagged it and jetted into the weeds.

Let's just say fishing by kayak at night in the Chesapeake Bay is a WORLD away from fishing by kayak at night on Lake Erie (as that is my usual spot). Got bit by a spotted sea trout, and a dog fish, almost by that snake too. Got stung by jellyfish multiple times (moon jelly, didn't hurt but didn't tickle either) and nearly got stabbed by a ray. I'm not sure if the ray even had a barb, I believe it was a cow ray I caught night fishing. Everything looked creepier in that green glo stick light haha

the best was explaining to the rest of my family in the morning why all the bloodworms were gone hahaha. They hid the kayak paddles from me for the last 2 nights. still got 4 night fishing seshs in though, I think I would have been pushing it, going out alone and w/o a phone (didn't want to break it or lose it in the depths of the bay) at night w/ nothing but glow sticks, a small flashlight and fishing gear.
