Weirdest things that have happened on a fishing trip?

Ohhhh man I was worried about that when I was fishing down there years n years ago, that must be a pretty big fear for fishermen down there, the worst that can happen here in NY is a snapping turtle doing the same thing hahah

Fished my whole Life and have way too many stories for most people to believe them being true but one I remember vividly was one time I was wading around a small pond fishing for bass and as I was going thru the weeds my foot hit something I reach down because it was squirming and I picked up a can of corn there was a hole in the can and there was a bullhead catfish that was stuck in the can face first n it looked like it had been stuck a long time it's sided had been cut up and we're partially healed up.

One time I was fishing off the jetty n caught a scuba diver, the guy popped up after over five minutes of expert fishing on my end, he lost his knife trying to cut the line free so he tried to pull on the line to break it; well my drag was set, either way it took a long time to untangle himself....

One time we went night crabbing off of newport pier in Oregon and used a salmon carcass as bait, the second our pot hit the water it took two friends and I were barely able to pull it back in; as we got the net closer we heard a bunch of barking/squealing to our amazement a sea lion grabbed the pot and somehow got his face or teeth stuck, needless to say we were 17-18 at the time so we lifted the seal or sea lion (400-500) pounds nearly out of the water and left it hanging there till there was a so much noise we were scared someone would call the cops, we ended up letting him go with the crab pot still stuck in his face.

Was fishing in my buddy's backyard one night didn't think we going to catch anything just wanted to put some lines in while we were drinking by the end of the night we were about ready when my buddy's rod went straight into the pond haha I was set up next to his rod with mine and was like whatever time to sleep so I went to reel mine in and get it inside and I reeled in his rod by mistake and then used his rod to reel the catfish in, he still claimed it as his but I always give him crap haha.

Also was in Edisto in South Carolina when I was like 14 and me my best friend and his dad had permission to fish off a private dock behind someone's house and we were putting shrimp on a couple rods when my buddy's dads line just took off screaming up the canal! Needless to say it was set up for pretty big fish and he could stop the fish period just let it run his line to the end think it was a big shark, gets better haha 10min later we see a boat with a kid on a tube come right by us with his feet in the water he smiled while I was fighting a big ray we all looked at him like he was crazy to be in that water.

seeing two largemouth bass try to eat each other but one was too big for the other one to swallow. also too one of the weirdest things that happened on a fishing trip was when we caught some octopus in Panama City Beach Florida.
it was cool to see how they changed colors right in front of you we let them all go.
 
Never had it happened to me but wasn't all that big of a surprise. Had an osprey swoop down and grab my shiner.
 
Of course the story no one believes. Fishing at Ward Lake in Olympia and a bald eagle swooped and took an old guys wiener dog from the dock and flew away. Guy cussed a few times and kept fishing. Hella gangster old man.
