.....although.. you always hear these guys asking about the feasibility of sealing a box using real thin acrylic sheets... doing that while using lots of this stuff might work.

But again, I wouldn't want to be the guinea pig... and making a small test box doesn't mean that it would scale up the same way if trying to do the same on a huge build.

But who knows?

lol, actually now I am a bit more intrigued with just using it to seal a window to a poly resin coated tank??? Seems more feasible. At any rate my next build will probably just be a wood framed pond with liner much like my 400 except a few tweaks!

Yeah, I'm not of fan of the idea of using a welding compound for the window seal myself. This pretty much means you're only given once chance at this and it has to be done right the first time or you probably ruined the window. Or, at the very least, you would have to remove it completely and buff/grind it back down to a sheet again.


I'm telling you man... Sanitred is where its at... it does exactly what you're hoping for here.... a cheap sealant that will bond straight to the window and goes on like paint. I have done this on my 5ft deep tank. There is a lot of BS talk on this site (swearing about drylock tanks is the worst)... but this is for real.

Anyone every had that aha moment? lol, I just did some exploring around the house that I am renting and discovered there is a rather extremely large crawl space underneath that almost looks like an unfinished basement. About 5' deep. So now I am kicking myself. lol. I know exactly what I must do!!!! There's a hole with mine and my fish' name on it!

yes, just Sanitred... you can see I tried silicon as its still there on the outside of the window. It doesn't stick to the acyrlic as well as the Sanitred.

Its just plain Sanitred on top of a 1inch strip of their special acrylic/glass primer on the sealing surface of the window.

Sounds ambitious. Lol...Only on MFK do you hear someone nonchalantly talking about starting up a pond this weekend. How big and deep are you planning to go?

I'm no longer a fan of Pond Armor or silicon after having issues with both.
