Where the gators are
i was just sittin on the couch and look over at my 60 gal and i see my 4~5 inch oscar with something in his mouth. i ran over thinking it was my baby TSN but it ended up being my new Endli. :( I had to drive 2 hours last week to get him and he had already doubled in size. he was only about 3 inches. about the time i got the oscar to spit him out half of the endlies face was gone. poor guy. I just fed them too.

well since the oscar is acting all tough now time he goes in with the big boys in my 330. His new "buddies" are a mean 7 inch flowerhorn, 2 5" pacu, 5 inch arowana, 11" RTC and a 13" Bowfin. lets just see how tough he is now.

That size of Oscar might become RTC food.

Sucks about your Endli, this is the main reason why I have stayed away from Oscars, they like to munch on smaller tank mates.

Yeah ive never been a huge fan of oscars myself. Not really sure why i got him now that i think about it. I dont think the RTC will. The Bowfin, well thats a different story. I know this sounds bad but at this point i dont think it would bother me to much.

I just dont understand. He didnt bother him when he was an inch long why now?

Just cichlid behavior sometimes, they can grow up their tankmates, do fine with them for a long while, then one day decide they don't like them and attempt to take them out.

Anything smaller then a Oscar will be food.

Yeah. You really never know whats goin to happen i guess.
It was really just my fault for chancing it.

But hes getting an attitude adjustment now. Not the appex predator in the tank anymore. LOL

I fail to see the need to punish a fish for acting like a fish. You can't "teach it a lesson" for exhibiting its natural behaviour.

The endli doubled in size in just one week?...Interesting growth spurt.

well he was only an 1.5 inches when i got him now he was 3 inches. I though that that kind of growth was normal? Isnt an average an inch a week when there that small? I had him for 10 days i think.
