Here is my well preserved senegalus that recently dug up. I'm impressed on how well bichirs get preserve when they were buried. Just a lil' cleaning and this dead specimen looks brand new.

I'm actually impressed with the sene's uper jaw as it's more advance compare to endli's or lap's upper jaw. The upper jaw have more spiky teeth all over the splenial bone compare to lower jaw species that the spiky teeth are mainly focus on the front and the side are just single row. Maybe because lower jaw species are more into grabbing larger prey and usually vacuum their prey and slowly swallow it. Upper jaw on the other hand does more work when taking down prey that's probably why they have more teeth lower jaw species. They also does more death roll than upper jaw species.

Here are the two preserve specimen of sene and lap

impressive, whats the cause of death of both specimens?how big were they?
looking forward to see some endlis skull.

cool. you should put them in front of yor tank as a warning when your fish misbehave

King---awesome!!!!

I would hate to think of losing one of my poly's, but if I did....

It is remarkable how there is really no shriveling of the bodies. Did you do anything special post mortem? How did you handle them/preserve them?

Thanks

Nice

nothing seem to be edible in a bichirs body. maybe just the eyes. lol

I ruined the endli when I dug it up. Got no more dead endli but who knows maybe in the far away future. Caused of death of the sene, it died in the bag during shipment. Caused of death of the lap, it got a critical skin problem, fungal infections and lots of parasite when it arrived. It didn't recover.
