That's how I started breeding bettas. Got 1 crowntail and said the same thing. Ended up with 36 males and a whole 55 gal full of females. Was very successful at breeding and next thing you know, I had tons of fry everywhere. Don't get bit by the betta bug.

Haha I already toyed with the idea of breeding them! Is it difficult?

I may get a betta sometime soon. I have a 5.5G I'm growing out some 2" bullheads in and when they outgrow it in what I'm guessing about 1.5-2 months I'll be open to ideas, I've considered everything from a betta to a cray to a pair of small darters and I'm leaning betta :)
 
sometime last spring I was walking thru the ifs with my daughter, and she of course insisted on getting a betta. haven't had one for a few years, so I thought, why not? besides, pick your battles. yes to the little fish now, no to the puppy. ;)

poor thing died while we were on vacation, now I find myself sprouting rice to create a biotope before I get a new one... damnable fish... I love these things. :D

Breeding is easy. I bred them several times, the fry are the pita. The fry will only eat baby brine shrimp as mentioned and also you have to seperate em. You will need loads of mason jars for all the baby's and then you must grow and sell them fast because really who has space for hundreds upon hundreds of 1-5 gallon setups, they can't stay in the mason jars long. The fry are very delicate as well.its certainly fun to breed them though. You will need to cull alot if you get he bettas from petco or petsmart though because typically they have weak genetics already.
