I would get rid of that rack asap as well. Not worth the risk, honestly.
I will second the brick/cinderblock + 4x4 wood rack. I have used this in the past to hold big tanks before for peace of mind.
Another good thing about those is that you can re use then in many ways and configurations in the future.
Something like this for example (I would have personally made it a little lower and not as much space in the middle for even more strength but you get the idea)
