Well...this happened today off craigslist.

I paid like $14 for my trim for a 40b. Thats 36x18" figure double that size double the price your looking at around $30 for a trim piece with a center brace.

Im all about Diy. I diy everything, but sometimes it's cheaper and easier just to admit defeat and take the easy way out.

I almost welded a 1/8" angle iron frame for the bottom trim of a tank once. Then I realized the metal cost 4x what the trim did.

I figure if I attach some telescoping blind hangers from front to back that'll keep 'er steady.

Hopefully your blind hangers are sturdier than the ones on my walls lol. Im sure somebod sells a good one.

I repaired a support on a 40 tall I got off Craigslist. Of course the previous owner had the bright idea of cutting it off. I used some 1/8" aluminum 1/2" wide flat stock and stainless #6 machine screws and drilled into the bottom lip of the trim. Wish I had pics. It held for a couple years till I broke it down.

Funny nobody said anything but be careful and keep an eye out on the seems as you said the tank sat for a year without water which isn't the best for silicone. Always best to try and buy tanks that haven't been sitting long without water otherwise you sometimes have to re seal them as the silicone dries out and shrinks.

Ok so a reseal for a 150 that I paid an extremely reasonable price for. If you aren't willing to put some work into this hobby it doesn't seem worth it.

Right and that would no big deal either....My used 265 required a resealing after having it only a few months and I paid quite a bit for it.
 
I've got a few 40b's and a 20 high that sat in a detached garage loft in Wisconsin for over a decade. I resealed and put new trim on one 40b I used for a sump but the others were ok. No issues. The plastic trim was In bad shape but the silicone was pliable and water tight. These tanks were from the early 90's late 80's.

But hey im a loose cannon.

that, sir, is a risk I will certainly share with MFK if 150 gallons of water suddenly finds its way into my carpet padding.
