Well my other thread got closed because you guys were bickering about keeping Oscars.

I was never talking about keeping the Os in a 55 or anything like that. I was talking about keeping 3 Os in a 125g nothing like that. Then i limited it down to two, which im going to try to find a all black O(which i no he might stay that color, but he will always have that very dark tint, with a albino oscar.

What i think im going to do, since i cant do the three Os, and i feel like im going to have some open tank space, just the way i feel. I was going to get a few senegal birchirs as bottom dwellers, but I wanted to add another cichlid.

So i think im going to get a Jack Dempsey, have one growing out. I no these two, Oscars and jack dempseys make great tank mates so i was going to add one of those.

So what it looks like is:

2 oscars
1 jd
2-3 senegal birchirs

if you feel like i can add to that let me know. I will say this, not a big fan of plecos but if you think they will be good tank mates let me know!:D

it is ok, but either way the bioload is probably about the same as if it would be an oscar in there instead of the new options

i would leave it like that, i would look like a really nice tank. If u reduce the oscars to one and the polyps to 1-2 then u might have more wiggle room.

two oscars is fine . sounds like a nice setup. any ideas for aquascaping?

ah im going to try and find about 2-3 nice pieces of driftwood, with some live plants growing out of them, sand bottom, and maybe some floating fake plants

you want to put 2 oscars and a jack and 2 bichirs in a 125 am i correct?
i dont see anything wrong with that at all. good filtration and you wont have any problems. 50 percent water change every 2 weeks and you should be fine.

ditto. good luck.

1 jd, and 2 birchirs will require about the same bio-load as 1 oscar. the point that should have been made about keeping 3 o's in a 125 isnt that you shouldnt do it, it is that you should make sure your water quality is kept at par, by excellant filtration and repeated water changes. shouldnt be a topic for people to bicker and get someone elses thread closed either. if the fish can comfortably fit into the tank with room to swim, and you are willing to put in the extra work to keep the water at 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, and under 20 ppm nitrates. then more power to ya go with the 3 oscars, if youre not willing to do that then dont get the jd and birchirs either.

sorry not trying to put anyone on blast or anything, just stating MY opinion.
