So when me and a buddy went to the LFS he got a farm supposedly Orino bass... well it was bullying the hell out of his tank and the LFS wouldn't take it back, he only has one tank, so he was going to euthanize it because nobody else wanted it..

So I saved it from that and gave it a shot in my main tank, I'll attach a pic, didn't bother QT he keeps his water well and has had it for a couple weeks now. It hassnt been chased around much, I keep my temp at 76-78 to avoid aggression, keep the fish well fed w/ every other day feedings.. I hope this guy survives. I was told a 30 isn't good for even small guys so I put it right into the main tank. 1x red hi fin wolf 7 inch, 1x Ornate bichir 8 inch, 1xGold dust bichir 6 inch, 1x 14 inch rope fish, 1x striped raph cat 3.5 inch, 1x gymno balzani 4 inch..

I realize this guy can be eaten, any ideas on how to help keep him alive?

put in a divider, I use egg crate light difusere and suction sups meant for heaters

Wrap a Mackrel in news paper and leave it in front of the door. They'll get the message. Or you could try Dans suggestion.

Not sure if I buy the helping my friend out thing. The store would have taken it back for free

^he had already had it a week and a half and their policy is 7 days at the LFS to avoid contaminating their tanks they take great care w/ trade ins, they usually get their own tank unless they're there for 2-3 weeks. I don't care if you don't buy it lol, that's what happened, if I was vain enough I would record my buddy saying it was true lol

But I tried a mesh divider with my wolf before and it didn't stand up to the wolf so I'll try to find egg crate to use, if its suctioned cupped to the sides it shouldn't be able to get pushed off. I don't think the wolf is that powerful. I can try it in the 30 for a while to see how it does I didn't figure it was an option due to past advice I've gotten on here. Is there any specific kind of crate I should look for/avoid?

Everyone's honest opinion; is it OK to grow it out to about 5 inch in a 30? The dimens are for your regular 30, about 12 inch wide by 15 inch top (I'm guessing right now, at work) with a power head and AC 70. Tank mates are mainly bichir, one albino sen (4 inch), one palmas polli 6 inch, one leopard crenopoma 3.5 inch. I was thinking this wasn't an option or I would have opted for that, if it is I'll move him as soon as I get home. He's I'm guessing 3 inch maybe 3.5 (ornio bass)

Hey seppii how come your using a divider in the new tank is it to make the fish feel like their in your old tank? Curious if I'm gonna have to do the same when I get my new tank and to the op I used a 40 gallon hex tank with 4 temensis till they hit the 6" mark then I put them in the main tank so you would be ok with a 30 gallon grow out

thanks guys, i do have a good flow and filtration going on in the 30. To help the Bass feel more comfortable in there and to lessen the bio load ill be moving the palmas polli to my main tank (he is ready i feel, only being an inch or so shorter then my gold dust at this point).

So itll be a lot different then his stress level in the main tank, he will be head honcho with only an albino senegal and leopard ctenopoma to deal with, both smaller then itself. Ill work him onto pellets after a couple weeks to fatten him up, i know Orinos grow slowly.. about what kind of rate should i expect? Any tips to get specifically peacock bass on pellet? Like teacher fish etc
