Swimmin' with the fishes
Went to my local lake and used my cast net for the first time. (My arms are SORE)

2 bluegill and 2 spotted bass currently in quarantine. Please ignore the gravel....

One of the 5" spotted bass. Couldn't get a good picture of the other one.

4" bluegill. You can actually see the other bass in the background.

If all goes well for the next week, the large bluegill will go in my 120g and the bass and small bluegill will go in to a 90. That's if I can get my 135 cycled in time to get the bichirs out of there. :P

Very nice! I went dip-netting last night and managed to snag a few pristine +/-2" common carp and black bullhead. Going to be quarantining a few of the commons to act as "calming" fish for my Siamese carp.

Is legal to using cast netting to capture the gamefish in your state?

Where did you find 2" carp?! Where I live it's impossible to find them less than 10".

Don't think that's possible lol

Yeah it's really busy lol.Nice catches though,I only catch sunnies and killiefish aside from minnows at my nearby creek

Seines & Cast Nets:

Only nongame fish less than 5 inches in length may be taken using a minnow seine and are not to be sold or used for commercial purposes.
All other fish and eels taken in minnow seines must be released immediately unharmed into the water.
A minnow seine must be less than 20 feet long and have a square mesh of 3/8 inch or less (square or in diameter).
Minnow seines may not be used in designated trout waters.
Minnow traps are illegal in freshwater.
Dip nets and cast nets may be used to take threadfin shad, gizzard shad, and blueback herring of any size for bait, except cast nets may not be used in state park lakes.
Bow nets are considered sport shad fishing gear and shall have a minimum legal size of 3½ inches stretched mesh.

So this took TONS of research on my part. But in short, yes it is. lol There's a bunch of stipulations (not in a state park, under a certain length, etc.) but I made sure I did not break any laws.

When I was living in NC, it was a lot harder to keep native fish, because every NA fish kept in an aquarium had to be caught legally on a hook. Let's just say I'm very lucky that warmouth have such large mouths otherwise, I would not have the one I have :) Caught him at about 3".

Glad that's out of the way, enjoy your fish and,get some new gravel.
