What was the water temp? It's probably too cold.

OK well like (dafish) said wat was the temp of the water?

Here is a little quote from my boy Bill Dance:

Water 50 and below stick to bottom fishing

Water 51 t0 75-almost anything iyou get them to see they will bite it

76 and above go back to fishing the bottom

My fish finder doesn't have temp, but the reports say it has been low 40s. I tried plastics and jigs.....fished fast to painfully slow. Crankbaits, spinners, jerk baits, swim baits........nothing produced.

I'm not upset or surprised. It was just nice to get out.

what kind of jigs are u talking about?

and

in that list of lures u said u tried it didnt mention lipless crank baits or rat-l-traps

thats all that has been working for me and im able to get atleast one fish a day

Great pics. I'm soooo envious of you that you're on the water already. Our boat won't even be dewinterized until late May...and then my husband will have to check out the bunks on the trailer at first launch of the season. No steering going forward at idling speed...sometimes I hit the bunks hard trying to drive straight onto the trailer without going sideways.

I'm using pig n jigs. Basically bottom bouncing bass jigs. Some of the jigs have rattling heads. The swimbaits are pretty much lipless cranks and all of the other crankbaits are rattle traps. Keep giving me advice though, please. Obviouslly you know what you're doing!

Thanks:)
I just added some bunks to my trailer and recovered the existing ones. I think this is the best thing I've done with this rig because it used to be horrible to load. Today (first time out with the fixed up trailer) I made some guys in a ~$30k Javelin fish-n-ski look like amateurs. Maybe they were though. They did slam the boat into the dock so hard that it cracked their fiberglass. They also put some healthy scratches on it when they missed the trailer. Mine went on smooth as silk though. It made me forget about the offset seat post flying off of the fishing seat and into the water.

Here's the thread with my trailer upgrades (2nd page)

I tried! I was floored when slow fishing didn't work and that's when the spinners came out to see if I was being fooled. No dice. The only bass I saw looked like it had some fungus from the winter. It was very lethargic, probably because it was sick. I saw a few perch and bluegill at the surface that had the same fungus look too.

blacks spots??

Nope, looked like white patches. They swam alright, just very slowly and didn't really react to anything other than poking them with the fishing pole.

I imagine that the winter was hard on them this year. There was a couple of weeks where the temp dropped to negative 10-20 degrees.
