I love catching Bowfin. The only fish I have ever had break 40 lb test. That one hit a big rapala. Best fight I've ever had.

im from florida, most people who catch a mudfish or a garr throw them on the bank and let them die they eat the game fish. although gar hae a backstrap in them you can eat that is tasty, and i know some oldtimers who eat mudfish and ie tried it dont wont it agin.

There's a couple guys that fish in the lake next to my house. They're always pulling out bowfin and taking them home to eat. nasty...

Nice catch, but too bad the pike didn't make it. Let's shoot for next Sunday. Pm me if that works for you.

well if you see them throw them on the bank to die then you should do the right thing and release them back to the water and inform the person trying to kill them they are wrong. Unlike carp and snakeheads these are native fish and should be treated with the same respect as a game fish.

Next Sunday sounds good to me. Last week of Summer School! yay!
4 classes in the summer has been a bit much...

Like I said it was a chain pickerel not a pike

Some people call chain pickerel "chain pike". Or "jack". Or probably half a dozen other things. Doesn't make them wrong.

Awww...quite yer crying. I took five during the summer and two were math classes. ...But yeah, four is quite a load for the summer.

I'll be in Ocala that Sunday. Hows the following Sunday sound? (I'll be working every Saturday till Winter.)
