Anyway, you should age your tap water in a big bucket
with an airstone or with a cup, scoup up water, make a waterfall.
Age it about 1 week. Or a few days, then add de-chlorinator to it.
Get some of that ditch/canal water in gal containers.
Maybe run it through a water purifier (brita), or
air conditioning battling

The two cichlids you caught are a port cichlid and a jewel cichlid and they will eat flake or pellets. I moved from South Florida a few months ago and used to catch a bunch of those.
