In a word, this place is more than your average aquarium shop. For the hour or so I was in there, I was in heaven. I'll be brutally honest: the store looked less than ideal on the outside, but when I stepped inside, it all because perfectly clear. You walk into the store and are greeted by a well stocked and well priced dry goods section. However, I quickly breezed past this area because I was set elsewhere. A short walking distance away, I nearly fell over as I layed eyes on what was before me. Standing in the doorway, my head begins to swivle 360* (okay, not really) taking everything in. I look to my left to find awesome koi, an impressive planted tank, and a monster school of piranhas-in an equally impressive sized tank. To my right, possibly the largest tank I've ever seen outside of an aquarium, housing none other than another insane school of piranhas. Underneathe i found two massive stingrays (name escapes me at the moment), not to be outdone by a good looking discus and angel setup. Mind you, this is before we enter the actual "livestock" section of the store. After catching my breath, I charged forward. My eyes lit up as I stumbled upon rows and rows of monster fish. I have never seen so many fish in a single location. I could go on for hours about my brief visit, but I'll just list some highlights: 24"+ RTC, 24"+ Rhom, 2 18"+ Cuban Gars, tank full of 6-7" Tigrinus cats, another tank with 3-4 12"+ black arowanas, two of the largest widebars dats I've ever seen, more piranhas than I care to shake a stick at, and a nice selection of stingrays and misc monsters. I'll tell you what, I walked into the store with well over $100 in my wallet. I left with the same amount of money, but my visit assured that this is a hobby I want to pursue. As soon as I track down a nice used 180g (tomorrow, hopefully), I'mma comin. Any of you guys in the NE should take the trip down to Shark Aquarium, even if you have no intention of buying anything. The owner, George, is a wealth of knowledge and a nice guy to boot. On a scale of 1-10, SA is definetly a perfect 10.
