Were to buy bulk pot scrubbies

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No I got ten packs that's 60 scrubbies but each pack is a dollar plus tax. So for a 75 maybe cost about $60-70 they do take up space so you might not need to spend that much.

You have me confused now. You said 60 scrubbies were $10, i asked how much space 60 scrubbies take up. You said a gallon or two. I have a 100g sump and a wet dry DIY tower. Aprox 75g of media storage combined. I would need $375-$750 worth to fill a 75g space.

Maybe im wrong but thats how it looks to me. I would have thought 60 woukd take up more space :p

There is 6 scrubbies in a pack for a dollar. You shouldn't need to spent that much. Each scrubbies is approximate 1" tall x 2.5" around. So they do take up space but if you've got a tower why not put them in one of the draws like I did. So that why they won't block the pump.

I want the filter to be effective as possible. I can use the drawers for them but i still have 50-60 gallons of media space to fill with something :p... Any thoughts on the lava rock?

Yeah they will do better in a drawer. They will float around and act kind of like a moving bed unless sectioned in one area.i had problems with them blocking my pump like that. I've never used lava rock but I heard they are good too so many you put those in the tank stacked as a wall so it ensures the water having to pass thru the rocks.

I have tons of it. Do you think it will work to break it up into 1"x1" for higher surface area bag it and use it unside of the sump?

That would work. Then just stack the bags as high as you can. Since your not sectioning off the sump making a wall with the lava rock bags will ensure the water having to pass thru rocks.

The sump is already setup with baffles from the last owner, thats why i didnt want to go K1 or helix media. As i didnt want to tear it apart.

I have attached a picture of it.

Going from left to right tower in the bigger space then I would fill the first small baffle with aquaclear 110 sponges. The next two baffles put scrubbies then lava rocks in the big baffle then your pump and heaters.
